WHAT IS START SUMMIT ABOUT?

START Summit is the leading student-run organization for entrepreneurship and technology in Europe. Our main event is the START Summit, which gathers more than 3500 players from the entrepreneurial ecosystem on-site in St. Gallen. Our mission is to inspire the entrepreneurs of tomorrow by connecting them with the leaders of the startup ecosystem.
We are the seeding ground for entrepreneurship.

WHERE WILL START SUMMIT 2023 TAKE PLACE?

The event will take place in St Gallen in the Olma Halls on the 23-24th of March 2023. For our Investors, Media, and Partners we will have our special 0-Day!

WHERE CAN I REGISTER FOR THE ONLINE PLATFORM?

The online platform is integral to entering the Summit and experiencing the conference to its fullest! After buying your ticket, you will receive a link in an email from which you can register on the online platform. In order to schedule meetings and register for Formats & Events, our online platform will open 1-2 months prior to the Summit. Also, don't forget to download the mobile app in advance!

WHICH DIFFERENT FORMATS DOES THE SUMMIT HOST?

The START Summit 23 will offer many (new) forms of formats. You can roughly divide them into 3 camps:
    1. Networking: Get to know the European entrepreneurship ecosystem through our Matchmaking platform, Speeddating, or even find your partner in crime at our Co-Founder Matching sessions. You will hardly find a better opportunity to find your next Investor, Employer, or Friend!
    2. Learning: Europe's best investors, founders, and leaders will share their stories, visions, and learning in various formats. Panel Discussions,  our Pitching Competition, Workshops, or our Startup School will be the place where you should whip out your pens. You will learn more than in the last 3 months combined!
    3. Bonding: The START Summit is the perfect place to accelerate your career while having the time of your life! Get to know St Gallen's nightlife during our Pubcrawl, have the most interesting conversation while being part of our iconic Side-Events, and join our legendary Afterparty as the final of the best 2 days you experienced in a long time.

CAN I SCHEDULE MEETINGS IN ADVANCE?

Yes, you will be able to schedule meetings in advance. Preparing meetings in advance to the conference is integral to ensure a productive START Summit. You can use the filter to differentiate between nationality, industry and job. So don't forget to schedule meetings in advance!

WHAT IS THE MATCHMAKING TOOL?

The Matchmaking tool enables participants, to discover the most fascinating fellow participants and schedule meetings with them. On our platform, you will be able to filter attendees after nationality, industry, or funding stage, thus finding the best fitting "Matches" will be as easy as ever. Meetings can be planned ahead of the Summit via our messaging tool, although having spontaneous meetings during the Summit will also be possible.

Since we are still quite early the stage program has not been published yet. The stage content from last time can be found here. You can expect an even better line-up this year.🚀

WHERE CAN I FIND PHOTOS FROM PAST SUMMITS?

DO I NEED TO REGISTER FOR WORKSHOPS?

Yes, due to limited seats in our Workshop sessions, you have to be fast to register before there won't be any seats left. You will be able to register on the Online Platform.

ARRIVING AT THE CONFERENCE

WHERE TO STAY DURING START SUMMIT?

We have gathered a list of partner hotels, where attendees can stay during the Summit. If you prefer a more quiet stay, some hotels are located just next to the city and will only take you a max. of 20 minutes to the conference halls with public transportation. We will ensure that the Summit is easily reachable by bus or train from every stay. Here you can find more info about hotels in St. Gallen.

WHERE IS THE CLOSEST AIRPORT?

The closest airport is Zürich, which is approximately 1 hour away by train. How you can travel from Zürich Airport to St. Gallen is explained on this site.

WHERE TO CLAIM MY BADGE?

You will be able to claim your badge prior to the first day of the conference, for example at the town hall near the train station. The exact dates and location will be published in the coming months. If you are an HSG student, you can also claim your badge at the university in building 09 from 2 pm-6 pm. We highly recommend that you claim them prior to the conference days in order to avoid extensive queuing!

 

AT THE EVENT

HOW CAN I GET TO THE VENUE?

Generally, we recommend arriving with public transportation. We have created a dedicated site on that topic.

WHEN DOES THE EVENT START?

The event starts at around 10 am on both days and will last until 7 pm on the 23rd and until 10 pm on the 24th, after the afterparty finishes.

IS THERE AN EVENING PROGRAM?

Yes! One of our coolest side events is our pubcrawl in which you will get to know the St Gallen bar scene. Additionally, we have an amazing afterparty, which will take place on the 24th starting at 6 pm. Check out the after-movie of the last Summits party.

HOW CAN I GET A TICKET?

We will have several Early Bird Ticket Drops with strong discounts, starting 31.10.2022. Be quick, as last time some ticket categories sold out in the end!

HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY TICKET?

You can pay with Credit Card and PayPal.

WHERE CAN I FIND MY TICKETS?

After buying your tickets, you will receive an email entailing a link where you will be able to register for the platform and claim your real ticket. If you bought more than one ticket you can distribute the tickets later (on the platform) to the eventual ticket holder.

Note that the online platform will be open not until 1-2 months prior to the event.

WHERE CAN I CHANGE TICKET INFORMATION?

The eventual name-holder of a ticket only needs to be declared when registering for the platform. After that, you cannot change the name holder of the ticket. If you need to change anything about your ticket, you can contact growth@startsummit.ch.

DO I NEED TO PRINT MY TICKET?

No, you don't need to print the ticket since you will receive the ticket via E-Mail, and you will have the QR-Code on the mobile App.

CAN I TRANSFER MY TICKET TO ANOTHER PERSON?

Firstly, you will be able to buy tickets for other people. You will be able to freely distribute the ticket when registering on the online platform. After you distributed the ticket, it will not be possible to change the owner.

CAN I BUY PASSES ON BEHALF OF MY TEAM MEMBERS/COLLEAGUES?

Yes, you will be able to buy tickets for your team. You don't need to declare at check-out who will be joining the conference as the distribution of the ticket will be required only when registering on the online platform. 

IS THERE A POSSIBILITY FOR A REFUND IF I AM NOT ABLE TO COME?

By default, START Summit tickets are not refundable. However, if the inability to attend was caused by special reasons there is the possibility to refund tickets.

DOES EVERY MEMBER OF A STARTUP NEED THEIR OWN STARTUP TICKET?

Yes, our startup ticket is only valid for one person.

 

STARTUPS

WHO CAN BUY A STARTUP TICKET?

Every employee, intern, or founder is eligible to buy a startup ticket. Please note that each startup ticket is only valid for one person and not the whole startup team.

HOW CAN I APPLY FOR THE SUMMITEER PITCHING COMPETITION?

To apply for our pitching competition, START Summiteer, startups need to buy min. 1 startup ticket. Summiteer is the perfect format for early-staged startups which are at the brink of blowing up and need to get exposure to Europe’s best Investors, Talent, and Corporations. Startups will pitch their company in 2 preliminary rounds before the big final will take place on the main stage. Last year the prize was 10000 CHF, and a Breitling watch to time the market. So, you can expect something similar this year! Further information regarding START Summiteer will follow.

HOW CAN I APPLY FOR A START FAIR BOOTH?

To apply for our Startup Booths, startups need to buy min. 2 startup tickets.
The Startup Booth is the perfect format for early-staged startups that already have a product and want to promote their product to customers, as well as get exposure to Europe’s best Investors and Talent. More information will follow. But be sure to secure your 2 startup tickets in advance so you will be able to apply for a booth when the time comes!

CAN I BOOK 1-ON-1 MEETINGS WITH INVESTORS OR OTHER STARTUPS PRIOR TO THE EVENT?

Yes! We provide the Matchmaking tool which lets you reliably connect with investors or other parts of the ecosystem.

Matchmaking - Our Matchmaking tool will enable participants to discover the most interesting fellow attendees and schedule meetings with them in advance of the Summit. You will be able to filter participants by industry, funding stage, or origin.

WHO CAN BUY AN INVESTOR TICKET?

The investor ticket is directed towards decision-makers in startups investments or venture capital funds. This includes VCs, Angels, LPs, and CVCs.

WHAT KIND OF STARTUPS CAN I FIND AT START SUMMIT?

START Summit offers a huge variety of startups from different sectors. We divide startups into different verticals (such as FinTech, DeepTech, Consumer) so you will be able to find startups of your sector of interest as easy as possible. You will mostly find pre-Seed, Seed and Series-A startups, but also already well-established companies that already passed those stages.

STUDENTS

FOR WHICH FORMATS DO I HAVE TO REGISTER?

You have to register for workshops since only a limited number of participants can be accepted. To this end, you will also need to upload a CV.

DO YOU OFFER FREE ACCOMMODATION?

Yes! However, we can only offer a limited number of free sleeping places. Therefore, you need to be fast as soon as the registration starts! More information will follow.
